It is with great regret that I must announce the early retirement of "Old Red" Springvan # 8

Old red was taken seriously ill west of junction 15 on the M4 recently with suspected engine failure. Assistance was given by the 4th emergency service at the roadside. Old Red was too ill to continue and needed immediate mechanical attention and was rushed to Rowcliffe's of Taunton for emergency surgery.

It was touch and go for a few days, when Cam belt pulley failure was diagnosed.

Would it require an engine transplant ? could a donor be found in time? Due to my timely intervention by pulling over, when Old Red had his Cam belt coronary, all that was required to make a full recovery was cam belt and pulley replacement surgery.

It was felt however that, although only 2 ½ years old "Old Red" was plagued by high mileage and required new brakes and disks. It was time to hand the reigns over to a younger fitter van.

One with its whole warranty before it.

"Old Red" can now be found at the Howard's Of Taunton Retirement Home for part exchanged vehicles where I'm sure he will received the love and attention, cosmetic surgery and livery removal that he deserves.

"Old Red" had become a familiar sight on the highways and byways of the South West and will I'm sure be sadly missed by all the people that struggled to write down the phone numbers so brightly emblazed on his body work.

Thought you were dead

You weren't

Nuff said.

No gold watch! Just a quick valet and a dry off with a chamois leather.

I know he would not want it any other way.

Goodbye and good luck old friend
